Founded in 1990 by the BTHA, the Toy Trust exists to raise money predominantly from the toy industry, its suppliers and friends; and distribute the money raised to young disadvantaged and disabled children's charities within the UK and abroad. The Toy Trust is the industry's charity and members are encouraged to put forward their suggestions for likely recipients of Toy Trust Funds. Money raised through fundraising events and other initiatives is distributed by the Toy Trust committee that meets five or six times each year to allocate grants to children's causes in need of support. All projects and charities, whether local, national or international, will receive consideration from the committee. Hop Skip and Jump Foundation would like to thank the Toy Trust for their generous donation of £2,000 which will be spent on Hop Skip and Jump’s Inter-Sport Challenge between Centre’s this coming Summer School Holidays |

NEWS Well, the Easter Bunny has come and gone for another year, we've had a break from school and it's back to the daily routines. Here at the Swindon Centre we've raffled off some Easter eggs, (thanks to the Addisson family for donating them) and distributed other eggs (thanks to kind donations from the folk at Zurich and Bnymellon) to the children who stayed with us for respite care. We welcome our new employee, Hollie Smart who brings with her, a number of years of experience and qualifications from the former Tantivy program. Out in the yard, our bike track is presently being improved with a new layer of turf; with further renovations planned, in readiness for a special cycle day with support from one of our local cycle shops. I've been issued a challenge from the Cotswold Supervisor Marc Johnson, so we'll be honing our cycling skills on the playground in the coming weeks. |

Afternoon Tea with Elizabeth Hurley and Robert Buckland Thank you to all who attended Afternoon Tea with Elizabeth Hurley and Robert Buckland on Monday 15th November at the House of Commons. There was an overwhelming support for our new centre in Swindon and many MP’s have asked for us to open new centers in their constituency. Elizabeth Hurley identified the need through quoting different friends of hers and she was followed by 3 fathers giving their own case histories. The fact that each one of them wept as they recalled the lack of help and Day Care available made Hop Skip and Jump are more determined than ever to increase Flexible, Immediate, Sustainable and Cost affect Day Care to the whole of the UK. |

The Hop Skip & Jump Swindon Appeal has received a boost in the form of a visit from Swindon Town FC Captain Jonathan Douglas. The Robins midfielder paid a visit to Hop Skip & Jump’s sister centre near Cheltenham to see meet children, volunteers and staff, and to find out more about how the centres operate. Hop Skip & Jump, Swindon, Town FC’s Charity of the Year, has a big appeal underway to build a new centre for children with special needs in the town’s Lydiard Park. The new centre will offer flexible, immediate and sustained day care for the children, and support for their families.
Development manager for Hop Skip & Jump, Lynne Godwin said “We are absolutely delighted to have the support of Swindon Town Football Club in our efforts to raise funds for a new Hop Skip and Jump centre in Swindon. Jonathan’s visit to our existing centre in Gloucestershire was a great success and the children were delighted to meet him.” “Hop Skip and Jump has been successfully working with children with special needs and their families to provide care and respite since 1981. Both our Cheltenham centre and our one in Bristol are extremely popular and we have people travelling to them from all over the country which is why we are now raising money to build a new centre. “We’re also really pleased that the Club will be lending a hand by selling Hop Skip and Jump wristbands to help us reach our fundraising target.” |
