The Hop Skip & Jump Foundation has been providing this unique day care to disabled children for over 28 years and operates two centres, the first in Seven Springs, Cheltenham (1982) and the second in Kingswood, Bristol (2003). Each centre operates as an individual charity with its own charity number, and is responsible for its own fundraising.
Our Staff:
All Hop Skip & Jump staff are fully trained, prepared and equipped to offer the very highest standards of support at each of our centres. Each centre is OFSTED inspected and monitored by our Development Officer. All staff are subject to regular appraisals, training and CRB checks.
Hop Skip & Jump’s Key Objectives:
- To provide respite day care for all those with life-limiting illnesses and any other special need – mental, physical or emotional.
- To provide an environment of safe, adventurous free-play for children with special needs.
- To provide special days for siblings and young carers.
- To give support, relief and time off to parents and carers.
- To provide a sympathetic listening service, advice and counselling to parents and carers.
- To provide an environment where parents and carers can meet each other, make friends and receive mutual support and help.
Hop Skip & Jump centres support children with physical, learning or emotional needs along with their families (including younger and older siblings). The centres are able to give these children the opportunity to build confidence, social skills and self esteem, whilst offering parents a chance to have a well earned break, as well as a place to come and be with the rest of the family, and meet other parents.
Our staff will be fully trained to offer families a wide ranging, high standard of support. From our experiences in Bristol and Cheltenham, we know this support can be valuable. Whether it is helping people to fill in forms to allow them to claim the benefits to which they are entitled, or simply offering a sympathetic ear, Hop Skip & Jump aims to offer its help in as many ways as possible.
