Hop Skip & Jump leaps into Liverpool!

3rd October 2017

Following an exciting 6 month wait, Hop Skip & Jump opened up in Knowsley on Friday 22nd September to provide emergency respite care in the Merseyside area! The centre includes soft play facilities, sensory rooms, art rooms as well as space for physical play both indoors and outdoors. In short it is fully equipped for the needs of children and young people with disabilities.

This is the fifth Hop Skip & Jump centre in the UK and was officially opened by the Mayor of Knowsley, Councillor Frank Walsh. After viewing the facilities he commented, “I’m delighted to welcome the Hop Skip and Jump Foundation to Knowsley and it was my pleasure to visit and officially open the centre. The centre will really help families across the borough, offering respite, care and support. I wish the Hop Skip and Jump Foundation every success.”

The opening was also attended by Ian Snodin, an ambassador for Everton Football Club.

Ian meets a rival Liverpool fan!

The centre is within St Martin’s Church Hall in Kirkby and has been supported by the Reverend of St Martin’s, Jeremy Fagan who attended, along with his church wardens, and gave a blessing for the new centre during the opening.

Princess Parties Liverpool provided Cinderella and Princess Jasmine bringing a touch of magic and sparkle to the centre. Pictured with our Centre Supervisor, Andy.

The centre will be open throughout the year, Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM to offer respite care as well as Alternative Learning for children excluded from mainstream schools. It is also available for party hire on Sundays throughout the year.

After the opening, our CEO Hayley Stone stated, “We have received a great deal of support here to enable us to offer families a safe space to come to. Our new centre staff are qualified and experienced in additional behaviours and clinical skills.” She added, “I am now excited for when our doors open and we can welcome children here for the first time.”
